Ageing potential

Drink young to fully benefit from its aromatic intensity.

Origins

The grapes for this “Terres de Gamay” blend were harvested from different selected terroirs of France (very diverse terroirs, all from granite soils), in Beaujolais and Comté Tolosan in the southwest. They were then vinified and blended together in order to obtain this very beautiful expression of the Mommessin style. A touch of Syrah was added to the whole to enhance the expression fruity and balanced Gamay Noir.

Vinification and maturing

Grapes are vinified according to the Beaujolais method, with a semi-carbonic maceration. Aging in vats.

Vintage : 2024

The Gamay harvest in 2024 was marked by generally clement weather conditions, albeit punctuated by a few challenges. In the Beaujolais region, spring was wet, which meant extra vigilance against disease, particularly mildew. However, a hot, dry summer, without excess, enabled the grapes to ripen well. Yields were satisfactory, slightly below average in some areas affected by fungal pressure, but the quality of the bunches harvested remained very good. Harvesting began in early September under stable weather conditions, with healthy, concentrated grapes.

In Comté Tolosan, weather conditions were more mixed: a dry start to the season followed by stormy spells made vine management more complex. Despite this, yields were decent and the quality of the grapes harvested was remarkable, with a fine concentration of aromas.

The wines produced from Gamay 2024 are beautifully fresh and have a marked aromatic intensity. There are clear aromas of crunchy red fruit (strawberry, cherry, raspberry), floral notes and sometimes a hint of pepper. The palate is well-balanced, with supple tannins and a lively, harmonious finish.
