100% Gamay Noir with white juice.
With its elegant colour, an intense ruby red with purple highlights, this Julienas offers a delicate nose dominated by aromas of black fruits and spices.
Enjoy tasting this fresh cuvée, which has a pleasant minerality on the palate, with a well-defined yet smooth structure and silky tannins.
To be served between 15 and 18°C. (59-64°F.)
This wine is perfect with traditional dishes, particularly poultry in sauce such as coq au vin, but also chicken with morel mushrooms, red meats and fat cheeses.
The Juliénas cru peaks at 466m. Its slopes, often greater than 15%, contain very little granite. The main parent materials of the Juliénas soils are essentially composed of Diorites, hard bluish rocks with clearly visible crystals, microdiorites with a thinner paste and dark, more schistose formations. This is the vintage where the surface texture is the most clayey (15% on average).
Vineyard age: 48 years old.
Yield: 56 hectoliters per hectar
A rigorous plot selection is made on 2 partners estates.
Vines are planted on varied soils made of deep siliceous rocks, stony soils with ancient alluvium and deep altered granite. They are pruned « en gobelet » and "cordon". They are managed with substainable farming methods.
Harvested manually during the first week of September, the grapes were transferred by gravity into concrete vats.
Whole bunch maceration brought out the wine's structure and minerality.
This maceration lasted around fifteen days, involving only pumping over and racking before pressing, in order to extract as much structure and colour as possible. The wine is aged on fine lees in vats.
In 2023, the Beaujolais Gamay harvest was marked by contrasting weather conditions. A rainy spring was followed by a hot, dry summer, favouring rapid, even ripening of the grapes. These conditions helped to concentrate sugars and aromas while maintaining good acidity. Yields were slightly below average due to the summer drought, but the quality of the grapes was exceptional.
Harvesting began in early September, with healthy, ripe bunches of grapes. We were able to harvest high quality grapes, despite some losses due to the drought. Overall, the state of the harvest was excellent, with grapes of good colour and thick skins, a sign of optimum ripeness.
The quality of the wines promises to be excellent, with intense aromas of red and black fruit, floral notes and spicy nuances. Initial tasting notes reveal well-balanced, well-structured wines with lively acidity and silky tannins. Their freshness and complexity promise a long life in bottle.
