Grape varietal

Black Gamay (Gamay Noir) with white juice.

Tasting notes

Appearance: A beautiful deep ruby colour, bright and brilliantly clear.
Nose: Expressive aromas of red and black berry fruits.
Palate: Following a fresh, lively attack, this round, aromatic and well-structured wine unfolds with an appealing persistence on the palate.

Serving suggestions

Best served at 15-16°C (59-61°F).

Food and wine pairing

A delightful wine, ideal with a charcuterie platter, a sauté of cultivated and wild mushrooms, or a summer barbecue.

Ageing potential

Best enjoyed in its youth, although it may be cellared for up to 3 years.

Origins

Nestled on rolling hillsides, the two villages of Régnié and Durette merged in 1973, ahead of the revision of their status and subsequent elevation to Cru classification. This natural union appears to be reflected in the distinctive church of Régnié and its twin bell towers, one for Régnié, one might imagine, and the other for Durette.

Terroir

Régnié is one of the most granite-dominated Crus of Beaujolais. Its varied slopes give rise to soils at different stages of development. Several hills are capped with ancient superficial gravel deposits, while deeper layers are more clay-rich.

The geology is principally composed of two major families: granitic formations and the highly diverse foothill deposits.

Vinification and maturing

Harvesting: Hand-picked grapes.
Winemaking: Gravity-fed vatting into concrete tanks. Whole-bunch maceration for approximately ten days, incorporating pump-overs and rack-and-return operations prior to pressing in order to maximise structure and colour extraction.
Ageing: In tank.

Vintage : 2025

In the Beaujolais area, the 2025 vintage stands out for its remarkable precocity, in line with great sunny years such as 2015 and 2018.

After a fairly cool winter and a balanced spring, budbreak occurred as early as April 6, followed by a rapid flowering at the end of May, eight days ahead of 2024.

Early summer was marked by contrasts: heavy rainfall in early June, locally accompanied by hail, was followed by a sharp rise in temperatures. A more moderate July preceded a heatwave in August, with peaks above 40°C. (104° F.), leading to significant water stress. These conditions accelerated ripening, enhanced berry concentration and kept disease pressure extremely low.

Harvest began on August 23 for Chardonnay and August 25 for Gamay, extending until September 16 depending on the area. Despite reduced volumes due to hail and drought, quality is definitely there: concentrated, complex wines with deep color and solid tannic structure. A truly nice vintage in the making.
